THE SACRED DARKNESS BEFORE THE MORNING STAR
Hello Beautiful Souls,
We have entered one of the most sacred passages of the Venus retrograde journey. Venus has disappeared from the evening sky, descending into the darkness of the Underworld, and on October 23 she reaches her cazimi at 0° Scorpio, the Venus Star Point, when Venus enters the very heart of the Sun, embraced by its light in a sacred kiss that marks the death of an old cycle and the birth of a new consciousness of love.
We are now in the deepest part of her descent, that mysterious space between death and rebirth where the old has begun to dissolve, but the new has not yet revealed itself. There is something profoundly beautiful about this moment, reminding us that not all darkness is an absence of light. Sometimes darkness is the womb in which new life is conceived.
Inanna and the Sacred Descent
As I shared in my previous blog, the ancient Sumerian myth of Inanna offers a powerful reflection of this journey. Inanna descends through seven gates into the Underworld, surrendering everything that once defined and protected her until she encounters death before rebirth. Her descent mirrors our own journey into the hidden chambers of the psyche, where we must confront the wounds, traumas, fears and shadow aspects we have buried, denied or been unwilling to face.It is through bringing these darker parts of ourselves into consciousness, rather than continuing to hide from them, that true healing and transformation become possible.
With Venus retrograde in Scorpio and making three squares to Pluto throughout this cycle, the descent reaches into the hidden chambers of our hearts, exposing fears, wounds, attachments and unconscious patterns that have shaped our experience of love.
Relationships may be revealing uncomfortable truths, old emotions resurfacing, and familiar dynamics becoming impossible to ignore. Yet the deeper invitation is not simply to change our relationships, but to recognize what they are reflecting within us. The Sacred Mirror becomes the alchemical cauldron through which our soul reveals what is ready to be healed, released and reclaimed.
October 23: The Cazimi and the Birth of a New Venus
At the heart of the darkness, on October 23, Venus meets the Sun at approximately 0°45′ Scorpio, forming the Venus Star Point. These sacred unions occur approximately every nine and a half months, tracing a beautiful five-pointed star across the zodiac over eight years. Each marks a turning point in our evolution of love, relationships, values and self-worth, but this one is especially significant. It is the final Venus Star Point in Scorpio of our lifetime, completing a nearly 100-year chapter before this point of the star shifts into Libra in 2034.
Hidden from earthly sight, Venus enters the heart of the Sun, where the old cycle symbolically dies and a new one is seeded. As this century-long Scorpio chapter closes, we, the way-showers of the New Earth, are participating in a profound ancestral transmutation, bringing the wounds, traumas and distortions carried through our maternal and paternal lineages out of the shadows of the Dark Ages and into the light of consciousness. This is the sacred alchemy of the Underworld, where generations of unconscious patterns can finally be witnessed, healed and released, allowing a new consciousness of love to take root within us and ripple forward into generations yet to come. From Scorpio’s Depths to Libra’s Sacred Mirror
On October 25, Venus retrogrades back into Libra, shifting our initiation from Scorpio’s depths of unconscious fears, attachments and power struggles toward the Sacred Mirror of relationships. What Scorpio has brought to the surface, the cazimi offers an opportunity to transmute, surrendering old wounds and patterns into the solar fire so that a new consciousness of love can emerge.
Libra invites us to embody this transformation through greater balance, sovereignty and interdependence rather than codependence. As fractals of One unified consciousness, our relationships become the alchemical crucible through which we recognize our patterns and practice a more conscious way of loving.
Mercury Retrograde: When Hidden Truths Find Their Voice
Adding another layer to this passage, Mercury stations retrograde in Scorpio on October 24, just hours after the Venus cazimi, remaining retrograde until November 13.
Mercury invites us to revisit conversations, question assumptions and uncover truths that may have been hidden or remained unspoken. What Venus is transforming within our hearts, Mercury asks us to bring into conscious understanding. Unfinished conversations may return, buried feelings may find their voice, and deeper truths may emerge, reminding us that sometimes the most important conversation is the one we have been avoiding with ourselves.
The Return and Integration
As Venus reemerges as the Morning Star in late October and early November, we begin awakening to the new consciousness seeded at the cazimi. On November 13, Venus stations direct in Libra, inviting us to bring these revelations into our relationships through conscious choices and new ways of relating.
On December 9, Venus makes her third and final square to Pluto. Where the first two squares exposed our unconscious patterns and their roots, this final encounter asks us to embody the transformation. As Venus clears her retrograde shadow on December 15, the journey of death, rebirth and integration comes full circle.
Honoring the Sacred Darkness
These are days that ask for courage: the courage to have difficult conversations, to speak truths we have been afraid to voice, and perhaps most importantly, the bravery to descend into our own wounds and shadows rather than projecting them onto those around us. Allow what rises from the depths to be met with compassion, recognizing that what is surfacing is not here to punish us, but to be witnessed, healed and transformed.
And as Venus prepares to enter the heart of the Sun, remember that even the deepest darkness carries the promise of light. The cazimi is the sacred kiss of rebirth, where the wounds of the past can become the wisdom of tomorrow, and a new consciousness of love is seeded within us, waiting for its moment to rise.
“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”
Rumi
May we honor this darkness as the sacred womb of becoming, trusting that what is being born within us will find its way into the light.
So much Love…
