When the Old Timeline Can No Longer Hold
Hello my beloved friends!
We are in the bardo now, that strange and often disorienting space between eclipses where one chapter has been activated, but the next has not yet fully revealed itself.
And this eclipse is even more charged than most…
On August 28, we arrive at the Lunar Eclipse at 5° Pisces, the final Pisces Lunar Eclipse for approximately nine years, and it comes with an extraordinary wildcard: Uranus at 5° Gemini exactly squaring the eclipse axis.
I call Uranus (ruler of Aquarius) the “lightning bolt of change in the hands of destiny”!
Uranus disrupts what has become fixed, breaks open trajectories we thought were certain, and can bring sudden events, revelations, reversals, breakthroughs, and circumstances that seemingly come out of nowhere. With Uranus forming a tight mutable T-square to the Pisces Moon and the Sun and Mercury at 5° Virgo, our best-laid plans may simply not be where life is taking us.
And remember, an eclipse portal is not simply the day an eclipse occurs. We are moving through an approximately six-week corridor, beginning two weeks before the first eclipse and continuing two weeks beyond the second, as energies, circumstances, relationships, and timelines are being reshuffled and reorganized.
So, how are you doing out there? How has this eclipse passage been moving through your world? It’s been ALOT for many people around me.
And it has certainly been moving through mine. My son broke his leg, my father underwent heart surgery, and several other unexpected plot twists arrived in quick succession. Enough to remind me how quickly life can redirect our attention toward what is actually asking to be tended. And somewhere in the middle of all of that, my Solar Eclipse blog apparently got eclipsed as well. 🙃 My apologies for going quiet and missing that one. Sometimes life asks us to put down what we intended to do and tend to what is directly in front of us.
So here we are…not simply moving through two eclipses but standing between two evolutionary stories.
THE LEO ECLIPSE: A NEW STORY BEGINS
On August 12, we crossed through the Total Solar Eclipse at 20° Leo, our first eclipse since the Lunar Nodes shifted onto the Leo/Aquarius axis.
We have changed terrain.
After nearly two years of working through the Virgo/Pisces evolutionary field, the collective nodal story has moved into Leo and Aquarius, opening an entirely new chapter around sovereignty, authentic creative expression, the individual and the collective, the heart and the field, and the question of who we become within the emerging architecture of a new world.
Leo asks something deeply relevant to the work ahead:
What wants to create through me?
Not the conditioned identity or the version of ourselves constructed for belonging, approval, survival, or participation within systems that are themselves changing. Something more essential to our true divine nature.
Aquarius asks how that individuated frequency participates within the larger organism? Sovereignty is not separation. Individuality is not isolation. The coherent individual becomes capable of participating in a coherent field without surrendering their unique frequency to it.
That is the new story beginning.
But before we move fully into it, Pisces returns for one final clearing.
ONE FINAL PASS THROUGH PISCES
On August 28, the Lunar Eclipse at 5° Pisces returns us to the Virgo/Pisces terrain we have been working for nearly two years. You know these themes well by now.
Discernment and surrender. Control and trust. The body and the field. Analysis and intuition. Anxiety and faith.
We have watched the Virgo shadow surface through worry, hypervigilance, over-analysis, and the belief that if we can just organize enough variables, perhaps we can control the outcome.
Pisces asks us to trust the unknown.
But we also know the shadow of Pisces.
Escapism. Projection. Fantasy. Spiritual bypassing. Addiction. The desire to leave ourselves when reality becomes too difficult, painful, or overwhelming to inhabit.
And I think we need to pay particular attention to the impulse to check out right now.
I have had two people very close to me enter rehab during this eclipse portal. I don’t take that lightly, nor would I reduce addiction to an astrological transit. But I do pay attention when the archetypal field begins appearing so clearly in the lived experience around us.
And it isn’t only drugs and alcohol.
There are countless ways to leave ourselves: technology, scrolling, sex, food, fantasy, compulsive work, obsessive thinking, spiritual bypassing, and the endless search for something outside ourselves that will change how we feel inside ourselves.
I would include here the overuse and misuse of plant medicines and psychedelics as well. These can be powerful allies when approached with respect, discernment, appropriate support, and integration. But plant medicine can also become another spiritually sanctioned form of escape when we continually seek the next ceremony, journey, activation, or altered state rather than embodying what has already been revealed.
More medicine is not necessarily more consciousness.
At some point, the invitation may no longer be to journey somewhere else.
It may be to come all the way back here.
This is the deeper Pisces initiation: surrender without disappearing, trust without bypassing, opening to Mystery while remaining fully embodied within reality.
WHEN THE BLINDERS COME OFF
Pisces also governs the places where boundaries become porous, and sometimes that means we see what we wanted to see rather than what was actually there.
This eclipse can bring the blinders coming off.
Something hidden, idealized, projected upon, or simply not yet visible may suddenly become impossible not to see. We may recognize that a person we trusted was not worthy of that trust, that a relationship has completed its purpose, or that something we desperately wanted to believe simply isn’t true.
For some, this may bring relationship endings, changing alliances, revelations, or the painful but liberating recognition that something was not what we believed it to be.
The ending of illusion is also the beginning of truth.
And here we find the bridge back to Leo.
As Pisces dissolves what we can no longer pretend not to see, Leo asks us to return to the truth of our own heart.
Not what we hoped was true. Not what someone else told us was true. Not what keeps everyone else comfortable. What do we actually know in our heart?
THE LIGHTNING BOLT OF CHANGE
And on top of already unstable eclipse energies… here comes the wildcard:
At 5° Gemini, Uranus forms an almost exact square to both sides of the eclipse axis, creating a mutable T-square with the Pisces Moon and the Sun and Mercury in Virgo.
This is not subtle astrology.
Uranus can bring sudden changes, shocking revelations, breakthroughs, reversals, disruptions, nervous-system intensity, new information, and events that alter our trajectory very quickly. These are sudden occurrences that can jolt us out of one reality and place us into another version of it.
And because Gemini, Virgo, and Pisces are all mutable, perhaps the medicine is not to immediately stabilize everything again. Stay adaptable. Stay light on your feet.
Something that works this week may need to change next month. Information may arrive quickly. Plans may need to be rewritten. The way forward may reveal itself incrementally rather than through the complete roadmap Virgo would prefer.
These same early mutable degrees are activated again at the February 2027 Virgo Lunar Eclipse, when Uranus in Gemini once again squares the Pisces/Virgo eclipse axis. What begins now may therefore be the first movement of a much longer reorganization.
Think of August as Phase One.
We may not understand the full meaning of what is changing yet because we aren’t supposed to have the entire story yet.
The lightning strikes first.
The new landscape reveals itself over time…(and perhaps not until after the eclipse portal closes with the Virgo New Moon Sept 10th*)
BETWEEN THE ENDING AND THE BEGINNING
And so here we are.
The Leo Solar Eclipse has already opened a new evolutionary storyline, while this final Pisces Lunar Eclipse asks us to release what cannot come with us.
One asks:
What are you finally ready to release?
The other asks:
What is now ready to be created through you?
Perhaps the deeper instruction of this eclipse is not to figure everything out, but to recognize what has already become undeniable.
What are you continuing to support that no longer has life in it?
What are you worrying about that may no longer even belong to your future?
Where are you being asked to loosen your grip on the plan?
And where is something new already calling you, even if you cannot logically explain where it leads?
Surrender without discernment becomes illusion. Discernment without surrender becomes control.
We need both now.
And this will be deeply personal depending upon where 5° Pisces, 5° Virgo, 5° Gemini, and 20° Leo fall within your own natal chart. These are the places where we can begin to see what is completing, where the lightning bolt of change is entering, and what new chapter is already asking to emerge.
