The Basket Prophecy: A New Civilization… or a Great Divide?

Howdy friends! I know it’s been a little while since you have heard from me… How’s the surf?! I have been slowing down a bit, enjoying summer, spending time with family, and reconnecting with the rhythms of the season. At the same time, Russell and I have been fully immersed in an exciting new project that has captured much of my creative energy. Between that and my ongoing ‘Question Everything’journey, I’ve found myself spending less time writing and more time researching, allowing new insights to emerge which has been exciting and discombobulating at the same time! 🙃

As many of you know, I’ve become increasingly fascinated by questioning long-held assumptions and exploring where astrology, history, consciousness, science, and spirituality intersect. More than ever, I believe we’re living in a time that asks us not to blindly accept anyone’s narrative, including my own…but to cultivate discernment and think for ourselves.

That said, I couldn’t let this month pass without chiming in about the extraordinarily rare alignments unfolding in the heavens this July. Across the astrological community, there is remarkable agreement that this is one of the most significant outer-planet alignments of our lifetime. Where opinions begin to diverge is what this alignment actually means. Many are celebrating it as the birth of a harmonious new civilization. I believe that opportunity certainly exists. I’m simply not convinced that’s the whole story.

French astrologer André Barbault, one of the most respected mundane astrologers of the twentieth century, became renowned for using outer-planet cycles to forecast major geopolitical turning points, including the collapse of the Soviet Union and a period of global crisis around 2020. In the latter part of his career, he pointed to the July 2026 Basket as what he called “the most beautiful configuration of the 21st century,” believing it would mark the beginning of a new era after years of global contraction. It’s one of the reasons astrologers around the world have been watching this month so closely.

At the heart of Barbault’s work was the harmonious relationship between Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune. This July, those three outer planets are forming a rare Minor Grand Trine, often referred to as the Golden Triangle. Many astrologers see the symbolism as fitting: a golden geometric pattern ushering in what they believe could be the beginning of a new Golden Age for humanity.

That alone would make this an extraordinary moment. But there’s another remarkable layer to the story.

Between 2025 and 2026, every outer planet changed signs, marking the beginning of an entirely new generational chapter. Then, almost as if on cue, Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, and Jupiter all arrive at 4° of their new signs at nearly the same time, creating the remarkable configuration known as the Basket.

Whether you see this as coincidence or cosmic symbolism, it’s difficult not to appreciate the elegance of the timing. Four of the great evolutionary planets, each newly established in its sign, simultaneously occupy the same degree while participating in one of the rarest planetary alignments of our time.

Even the number itself is worth contemplating.

In numerology, 4 symbolizes foundation, structure, and manifestation. It governs the four directions, the four elements, the four seasons, and the four corners upon which civilizations are built. If this alignment truly represents the laying of a new foundation, then perhaps the most important question isn’t whether a new civilization is emerging… It’s what kind of civilization we’re building.

This is where I think we need to pause and exercise a little discernment.

As astrologers, we’re taught that trines and sextiles are harmonious aspects because they represent cooperation and a natural flow of energy. That’s absolutely true. What astrology doesn’t tell us is whether the forces cooperating with one another are acting in service to humanity or simply becoming more effective at achieving their own objectives (which may NOT be in service to the whole!)

Three brilliant scientists working together to cure disease represent extraordinary cooperation. Three powerful governments working together to build the world’s most sophisticated surveillance system also represent extraordinary cooperation. In both cases the collaboration is efficient. The astrology looks harmonious. The outcome depends entirely upon the consciousness directing that cooperation.

History reminds us of this as well. Previous periods in which Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto formed similarly harmonious relationships certainly produced remarkable innovation, but they also coincided with times when governments, industries, militaries, and technologies became extraordinarily effective at advancing their own agendas. The planets don’t create those agendas. They amplify whatever is already moving through the collective.

For me, that’s the real question of the Basket. I don’t see it as inherently positive or inherently negative. I see it as profoundly amplifying, which naturally leads to a far more interesting question than simply asking whether this alignment is good news.

This is where my own perspective begins to diverge from much of what I’m hearing.

I agree that this Basket points toward the birth of a new civilization. Where I differ is that I don’t believe we’re all moving toward the same future.

For quite some time, we’ve been exploring what many spiritual traditions describe as a bifurcation of consciousness. I don’t see this as two separate physical Earths, but as humanity increasingly separating into two very different experiences of reality.

One path moves toward greater sovereignty, creativity, local community, reverence for Nature, and a deeper connection with Soul. The other moves toward increasing technological dependence, artificial intelligence, digital identity, surveillance, and the gradual surrender of our inner authority to external systems.

This separation is already underway.

That helps explain why two people can witness the very same events and experience entirely different realities. They aren’t simply holding different opinions- they’re participating in different timelines emerging from the same collective field.

From that perspective, the Basket doesn’t choose the timeline for us. It amplifies the one we’re already choosing through our consciousness, our values, and the frequency we embody each day.

To me, that’s far more empowering than believing the planets are simply going to deliver humanity into some predetermined golden age. Astrology describes potential. The future is something we’re co-creating through the choices we make every day.

So what do we actually do with all of this?

Rather than trying to predict exactly how these energies will unfold, I believe our focus is better spent becoming intentional about what we’re choosing to amplify.

The peak of this Basket configuration falls between July 18th and 22nd, with July 19th at its center. It all unfolds during Mercury retrograde, inviting us to slow down, reflect, and make sure we’re building from a place of authenticity rather than reaction.

Then, as we move toward the Aquarius Full Moon on July 29th, we enter the Eclipse Portal…The ground begins to shift, events accelerate, and the foundation we’ve been building starts to reveal itself.

So stay present. Stay grounded. Stay discerning.

Perhaps the greatest question this sky is asking isn’t, “What’s going to happen?”

Perhaps it’s simply…

What are you choosing to build? If you have been dreaming of something, this is the week to go all in!
