THE SUN STANDS STILL!
The word solstice is derived from the Latin words sol, which means “sun,” and sistere, which means “to stand still”. “The sun is standing still.” Solstices are significant times in the year when the sun is the furthest from the celestial equator. Because the Earth’s axis is tilted at an angle of approximately 23.5 degrees, the hemisphere that is tilted closest to the sun during the solstice period experiences summer. Summertime begins in the northern hemisphere around June 21 every year when the sun is directly overhead at the tropic of Cancer, and we experience the longest daylight hours of the year. From this day, the sun begins a new journey, lowering each day in the northern hemisphere and the amount of daylight gets shorter, until we reach the winter solstice and Capricorn season.
The exact Solstice arrives this year on June 20th at 3:51 CDT. This day historically is a day of the celebration of the Light. The longest day of the year, the time to honor our Great Central Sun and allow ourselves to shine brightly in honor of the glorious abundance that is Life!
The Summer solstice initiates Cancer season, ruled by the Moon, which is the archetype that pertains to our emotional bonds, our closest relationships, family, home, and what gives us security of lack thereof. As we embark upon a new cycle, it is the time to reflect upon these areas. To spend time with, honor, and celebrate the gift of such treasures of those whom we share this precious life with. The symbol of the crab, we may also feel sensitive and need to retreat to the inner sanctuary of our own hearts, attend to the deeper layers of our being, and protect that which is precious and sacred and those whom we truly value and are valued by.
TWO CAPRICORN FULL MOONS IN ONE MONTH!
Dismantling Outworn Structures
A rare occurrence, we will experience TWO Capricorn Full Moons this Cancer season!
On the tail of the Solstice, June 21st arrives the first Full Moon at 1˚ Capricorn ushering us into Cancer season. Then on July 21st at 29˚ Capricorn, the second lunation closes the chapter giving us the opportunity to address any issues previously unresolved.
The Cancer/Capricorn polarity pertains to the parental axis. Mother/Father, home/work, water/earth. As im sure we are all aware herein lies alot of complexity with hundreds of years of our maternal and paternal lines enduring deep wounding existing through the dark ages. With this lunation we are invited to examine these depths and the foundations of our lives which affect our home, family, and jobs… as well as our inner emotional structures and where might we need to strike a new balance.
Full Moons are a time of letting go. Since the eclipse many relationships have been changing if not dissolving and this season is the moment to assess our foundations clearly as to what is working, what is not, and to either do a complete rehaul, or alternatively tear it down completely and start anew.
Cancer ruling Mother, attachment, emotions, and Capricorn overseeing maturity, fortitude, ambition and focus – we are called to strengthen our emotional intelligence muscles, attend to any unhealed childhood wounds that could be in the way of our highest potentials, and ultimately master the ‘art of reparenting’ of our own inner child so to create the inner and outer equilibrium to ensure the scaffolding of our lives is solid and enduring.
Saturn ruling Capricorn is the lord of karma. What ever we have been reaping, shall be sown.We may feel limitations, inner or outer resistance, and a need to uphold stronger boundaries. We may also need to rebalance the work/family dynamics. Some may lean towards the shadow of Capricorn harshness and override the emotional realm resisting the deeper work. Others may feel like they are drowning in the Cancerian emotional waters and need to swim ashore and dry out.
Neptune will square this Full Moon at the anoretic degree of Pisces. This 29th degree is known as the ‘death degree’. At then end of the zodiac we are all facing existential quandaries. We know this ‘is the end’ on some level. The end of what is the question?
With two Capricorn Full Moons we are forced to face and perhaps reassess if we have been putting our energies in the wrong people, places, or projects and adjust our navigation to pour our hearts and energies into areas with true meaning and lasting value. These are tough lessons sometimes, but as the architects of the New Earth, we have signed up for this mission and thus have all the necessary tools available.
Neptune putting a haze over our awareness which can complicate and blur reality, bringing overwhelm, delusion, or temptation to numb- reckons us to WAKE UP to reality where we may be unconsciously sabotaging, actualize our gifts, and refine our spiritual alignment to receive the higher support that is always accessible. At this precarious cusp between the Ages – trusting the river has a destination, though it may seem nowhere in sight just yet is our greatest quest.
So ultimately, this is a time to weave our practicality and goals, with love and devotion to those we love and cherish. To take honest stock of where we may be blocking our greatness, synthesize our dreams into tangible structures, and remember WHY we are doing it all in the first place, resting in what is most important at the end of every day. And again, don’t worry if you don’t have it all sorted out with our 1st Full Moon in Capricorn June 21st, we will have another go at it with the second Full Moon in Capricorn on July 21st. 🙏
“With life as short as a half-taken breath, don’t plant anything but love.”
