Winding Down 2025
If you made it through the holidays, take a breath. This year asked a lot. December tends to concentrate everything unresolved, and 2025 carried real weight. And still, I hope there were moments of warmth, laughter, or simple presence with family or chosen kin, even as deeper currents moved beneath the surface.
January 1, 2026 does begin a 1 year on the Gregorian calendar. It opens a new directional pulse. And thresholds are rarely crossed in a single step. Some endings require darkness before they release.
We are in winter. The Sun has turned, but the land is still resting. Astrologically, this is the underworld phase of the year, when what cannot move forward yet moves inward instead. The deeper new year arrives at the Spring Equinox, when light fully begins its return.
We are also not finished with the larger closing cycle. Chinese New Year arrives February 20, 2026, and until then we remain in the final stretch of the Year of the Snake. For many, this year has been brutal. Snake energy exposes what has lived in the dark. Unintegrated shadow. Old defenses and survival patterns that have quietly sabotaged from within. This is not about judgment or self-correction. It is about illumination. As Carl Jung wrote, “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” What is asked now is simple, though not easy. To meet what was hidden with loving awareness, and allow forgiveness to complete the healing once and for all.
If you feel slowed, contemplative, or emotionally tender, you are not off course. This is a liminal season. Let what needs to end complete itself.
Early January carries a quiet but powerful turning point. The Cancer Full Moon on January 3 illuminates old emotional terrain. Family stories, ancestral patterns, and long-carried baggage may surface, not to be re-lived, but to be released and rewritten once and for all. This lunation reframes belonging, asking what family truly means now and where emotional safety is genuinely found.
As the week unfolds, Venus and Mars flank the Sun from January 6–9, the two cosmic lovers drawn back toward the heart of the sky.
